NATIONAL VETERANS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS

Marlborough College, April 1st/2nd

Organiser John Hawke is now accepting entries for the National Veterans’ (over 45s) Championships, which are making a return to Marlborough College this year. To be held over the weekend of April 1st/2nd, the tournament will include both singles and doubles championships. Matt Cavanagh is the defending singles champion, while in the doubles John Minta and Andy Pringle (above) are looking to retain the title they won for the first time last year.

Qualifying age is 45 years on or before 1st April 2017, with the Singles event completed on Saturday (start time approx 12pm) and the Doubles played on Sunday (start time approx 10am). There will be Plate competitions for those eliminated in the early rounds each day. Players interested in taking part in the Doubles, but lacking a partner, may submit their names and contact details, and John will make every effort to match them up with a compatible partner.

The organiser is keen to point out that, to take part, you don’t need to be a star player. The event is set up to give players as much Fives as they can stand, with numerous plate and other competitions, and the energy used whilst playing can be replenished by consuming the copious food provided by the organiser and his helpers.

Entries must be received by Sunday 26th March. And, for full details, click on the link below to download the official entry form.
