NATIONAL SCHOOL GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS

Marlborough College, Sunday April 19th

Organiser Alex Smith is now accepting entries for this year’s Rugby Fives National School Girls’ Tournament, which takes place at Marlborough College again this year, on Sunday 19th April, starting at 10 am.

This is a significant year, as Louise Matthias of Christ’s Hospital, runner-up in the U18 singles last year, won the first U13 Singles in 2010, meaning this year’s tournament represents the first “generation” of girls playing through their school years!

As in every previous year, Alex is encouraging school girls of any experience or ability to enter, as there will be plenty of games for everyone, and the day is a lot of fun. It is a very friendly and sociable atmosphere and the girls always seem to enjoy it; there are also the attractions of Marlborough High Street to visit, with shops, a great café and Pizza Express for afterwards!

Alex also wants our Eton Fives friends to come and try out the other code. Not only does he think the girls will enjoy it, it’s good for those back-step shots! There are some Eton courts right next to the Rugby courts at Marlborough, so if we have some Eton players then there could even be a lunch-time exhibition Eton game!

Players can enter by post or email, and the entry fee can be paid on the day by cheque, cash, or BACS. For all other details, simply click on the link below to download the official entry form.
